St. Petersburg police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez said Friday that officers determined the child’s mother was not involved with the crime, and the 18-month-old girl was returned to her.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the 33-year-old man was working on a stretch of U.S. 41 in Hillsborough County early Friday morning when a Honda Civic crashed through cone barricades and hit him. The driver took off but then crashed again a short time later.

3 SCHOOLS PLACED ON LOCKDOWN AFTER OFF-CAMPUS SHOOTING; 2 TEENS SUSPENDED

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 14 and 16-year-old were shooting a gun at an abandoned home Thursday morning. Nearby Lincoln High School, Apalachee Elementary School and the Ace-Adult & Community Education were placed on lockdown, but authorities say students were never in danger.

WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN CRASH WITH SCHOOL BUS, CITED FOR CARELESS DRIVING

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that 28-year-old Erica Ficca was driving her car behind a Pinellas County school bus Friday morning when the bus slowed for a railroad crossing. A crash report says the car failed to stop and hit the back of the bus.
