ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - A toddler is safe after a thief took a car with the child inside near Orlando.

Lt. Miguel Garcia told local media the child was not harmed during the incident that occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Orlando police say they received a 911 call after a child was found outside a home less than a mile from the area where the car was stolen.

The stolen car a short time later. But they are still searching for the person who took the car.

It wasn’t clear why the child was in the car alone. The names of the child and parents have not been released.

An investigation continues.
