ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) - Police in a northern Massachusetts town say a political campaign sign supporting Donald Trump was mistaken for a bomb.

Andover police Chief Patrick Keefe says a bicyclist passing the sign on Thursday thought a plastic box attached to it looked suspicious. The sign was in front of a home near the North Reading town line.

The wooden sign was mounted on two metal poles, one of which had a plastic box on it with “Do Not Touch” written on it, according to police.

The Eagle Tribune reports that the box, which resident Arthur Gonsalves had rigged up using old stereo equipment, also read “Booby Trap” and “Danger.”

Keefe says police asked Gonsalves to remove the box, which he had placed to discourage vandals. Gonsalves says two previous handmade Trump signs were stolen from his property.
