FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A federal jury has convicted a Spirit Lake man of aggravated sexual abuse of a child following a three-day trial.

U.S. Attorney Christopher Myers says the jury found that 41-year-old Jay Littlewind Sr. of Tokyo knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a child younger than 12 in 2008 as she lay sleeping in her mother’s bed while her mother was at work.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson ordered that Littlewind remain in custody as a presentence investigation is completed. Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 28 in Fargo.

Littlewind faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years in prison.
