DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man who was injured in a crash in a construction zone in Dover has died.

Troopers say 86-year-old George Courtney Jr. of Dover died Sunday at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, where he was taken after the crash on Oct. 21.

Police say Courtney was approaching an active construction zone when, for unknown reasons, he drove past the flagman onto the grassy shoulder.

Authorities say Courtney pulled back into the southbound lane and then crossed into the northbound lane where he accelerated and struck another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the other vehicle, 58-year-old Craig Burris of Camden, who was wearing a seatbelt, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
