ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A number of fights broke out throughout the school day at an eastern Pennsylvania middle school, prompting a visit by police and leading to two arrests.

Thursday’s violence at Allentown’s Trexler Middle School came a week after four officers were hurt during a brawl involving dozens of students at nearby William Allen High School.

The Morning Call reports (https://bit.ly/1WDyNxz ) the middle school fights involved both boys and girls inside the school and led to a two-hour lockdown.

Allentown police Assistant Chief Gail Struss says more children could be charged.

In last week’s high school fight involving dozens of students, an officer was pulled to the ground by her hair and punched in the face. A group of students then surrounded her and some continued the assault. Five students were arrested.
