GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A 25-year-old Pitt County man has been charged with murder in the death of his 2-month-old son.

Authorities tell local media outlets Charles Edward Robinson Jr. was arrested late Thursday and charged with an open count of murder. Investigators had been called to his home at about 11 a.m. Tuesday and found the baby dead.

No other information about the baby’s death, including the child’s name, has been released.

The name of the baby’s mother has also not been released. Investigators said she had left the child with Robinson for a short time Tuesday morning, and found the baby unresponsive when she returned.

Robinson was being held in the Pitt County jail Friday without bond. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
