HEFLIN, Ala. (AP) - Heflin police say a freeway pursuit has resulted in three arrests and the seizure of cocaine and marijuana.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/1Sxbwgm ) reports three Tuscaloosa men were arrested Thursday after police say the suspects ignored an officer’s attempt to stop them for driving slowly on Interstate 20. Police Chief A.J. Benefield says the pursuit lasted several miles, but the speed never reached more than 70 mph.

Benefield says 18-year-old Demarco L. Richardson and 19-year-olds Elantheus D. Prince and Jonathan M. Prewitt are charged with possession of marijuana, trafficking cocaine, attempting to elude, impeding traffic flow and resisting arrest.

Police say they recovered four ounces of cocaine, with a street value of up to $14,000, and about a half-pound of marijuana.

It’s unclear if the men have attorneys to comment on the charges.
