FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) - Police say a Cape Cod homeowner shot at a man he found trying to set his house on fire.

It happened at around 3 a.m. Thursday in Falmouth. Police say the homeowner woke up, looked outside and saw someone setting fire to the side of his home.

Police say the man ran after the suspect and fired two shots at him from his pistol. The resident is a licensed gun owner.

Police say the man’s wife put the fire out with a garden hose. The front door of the home had been jammed shut from the outside and the brake lines of his car were severed.

Police are searching for the suspect. No arrests have been made.
