LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - State agents are investigating after a Lancaster police officer shot a man.

State Law Enforcement Division spokesman Thom Berry says the shooting happened around 8:25 a.m. Friday at a home inside Lancaster city limits.

Berry says it appears the officer was not seriously injured, while the man shot was taken to a hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening.

No information has been released on what led to the shooting.

This is the 41st officer-involved shooting in South Carolina in 2015, putting the state on a pace for 47 police shootings this year. That would eclipse the previous 15-year high of officer shootings in 2012.

SLED says a woman was shot and killed by a Berkeley County deputy Thursday night.
