PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Learn more about owls during a program at Pine Mountain State Resort Park this month.

The southeastern Kentucky park is hosting “Owl Prowl” on the evening of Nov. 28.

Mitch Whitaker of the Letcher County Rehabilitation and Education Center will present a program at 7 p.m. on “Silent Predators of the Night,” with live owls. A hike will start at 8 p.m. with participants driving to the old campground.

The hike will be led by naturalists from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and Pine Mountain State Resort Park.

For more information, call (606) 337-3066. Hikers are advised to bring a small flashlight or headlamp, preferably a red light; binoculars; and appropriate clothing for the weather.

The event is free. A special lodging rate is available for participants.
