LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - An attorney who spent 25 years in private practice will serve as a county court judge based in Lincoln.

Gov. Pete Ricketts announced Thursday that he has appointed Thomas E. Zimmerman to the 3rd judicial county court of Nebraska.

The 53-year-old Zimmerman is a partner at a Lincoln law firm, where he worked on criminal and civil cases, estate planning and probate case work.

Zimmerman holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and earned his law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
