RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A team of Riverside police officers and detectives was investigating a stolen vehicle report when one of them witnessed a shooting.

Sgt. Brian Smith says the detective who saw the shooting called for help, which arrived almost immediately. Members of the county’s gang task force, police gang unit and police Metro team were all called in.

A 16-year-old was arrested and booked for investigation of attempted murder at Riverside County Juvenile Hall.

Smith says the victim, a 38-year-old Riverside man, was taken to an area hospital. Smith says the man’s wound is not life-threatening.
