JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 17-year-old fell from a boat and died while fishing with his uncle in the St. Johns River near Jacksonville.

Fish and Wildlife spokeswoman Karen Parker says Adam Rosier Jr. was holding a weighted casting net on Thursday when his 45-year-old uncle John Rosier turned the vessel to reach a school of mullet. The teen fell into the river.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office dive team found the boy in 11 feet of water, entangled in the net which included about 20 pounds of weight.

The Florida Times-Union (https://bit.ly/20zt7t8 ) reports the pair had been fishing in the area for years and were familiar with that stretch of the river.
