COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado Springs teenager who was involved in a crash that killed her younger brother has been sentenced to five years of probation.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/DkNeDu ) 19-year-old Erin Lanosga was sentenced Friday for the May 20 death of 16-year-old Ryan Lanosga. She pleaded guilty in August to vehicular homicide.

An arrest affidavit says Erin Lanosga told police she was drinking before her pickup “slid out,” hit a rock and rolled several times in Garden of the Gods Park. Police say she had slurred speech and could not complete a roadside sobriety test.

Judge Jann DuBois told her Friday, “You can make your brother’s life count for something and your poor choice can count for something. It doesn’t have to define you.”
