PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island State Police say thieves broke into Gov. Gina Raimondo’s official SUV and stole a trooper’s iPhone.

Police say they eventually tracked down the suspects and recovered the state-issued phone, which they say did not contain sensitive information. Three people have been arrested.

Maj. Joseph Philbin says the trooper is one of the drivers for the governor. He says the break-in happened early Tuesday morning outside the trooper’s home.

Philbin says the trooper heard someone break the window of the Chevrolet Tahoe with a rock. He ran outside to see a silver Volvo speeding off.

State police issued a bulletin for the Volvo. The following day, Providence police spotted the car and pulled it over. Inside were five people, including one who had the cell phone.
