COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Two of South Carolina’s congressional Republicans are headlining the annual meeting of a conservative think tank.

The Palmetto Promise Institute says that U.S. Sen. Tim Scott and U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy are speaking on Friday at the group’s meeting in Columbia.

Formerly known as Palmetto Policy Forum, the think tank was formed in 2013 by former U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint to conduct research and push for conservative ideas in state government.

DeMint resigned from the Senate in 2013 to take the helm of the Heritage Foundation, a national think tank based in Washington. He still serves as honorary chairman for Palmetto Policy Forum.
