PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) - Police say a pedestrian has been hit by a freight train in Puyallup.

The News Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/zexgnr ) the collision happened at about 7:30 p.m. Friday in the downtown area where tracks cross Meridian Street.

Police say the pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and has been taken to a hospital.

The person hit was not identified.
