TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Transportation has again extended the deadline to Nov. 9 for submitting bids for providing commercial air service in Tupelo.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1iHmwdW) it’s the second extension of the original deadline, which was moved from Oct. 28 to Wednesday.

SeaPort Airlines ended service Oct. 23 after nearly a year of providing service through the DOT’s Essential Air Service program. The federal agency had ordered SeaPort to continue service until Dec. 28, but SeaPort said it could not do so.

Officials have said at least one airline is interested in providing service.
