GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Long Beach woman facing felony charges in her boyfriend’s death has pleaded guilty to a related charge of failing to report his demise.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1WDyC5r ) 63-year-old Christy Lee Zarrella had asked for a trial on the misdemeanor charge. Prosecuting attorney Herman Cox says Zarrella pleaded guilty Thursday before Harrison County Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray, who sentenced her to 90 days in jail.

Zarrella is being held on bonds of $500,000 on two felony charges. She’s accused of desecrating the corpse of 87-year-old Edward A. Miller and tampering with evidence.

Authorities say she cut a pacemaker out of Miller’s chest, put his body in a trash can and tried to set it on fire. His decomposing remains were found behind the home he shared with Zarrella.
