BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts State Police say two people rescued from a vehicle that went into the Charles River off Route 28 in Boston have died.

Police responded about 6:40 p.m. Saturday and found the vehicle fully submerged in the water near Leverett Circle. The two occupants, a man and a woman, were removed and taken to a hospital, where they later died.

Police weren’t releasing their names, pending notification of their families.

Authorities say the vehicle apparently went into the water after colliding with another vehicle.

Divers searched the river but found no one else.
