MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) - A 9-year-old girl has been taken to the hospital after being bit while surfing off the Florida coast.

Brevard County Fire Rescue officials said the girl was bitten on the foot by a toothy sea creature Saturday morning while surfing at Paradise Beach.

Fire rescue officials said they think it might have been a fish with big teeth, but aren’t sure because no one saw it. There have not been any shark sightings in the area.

The Orlando Sentinel (https://tinyurl.com/p46trzc ) reports the girl was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
