CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - After hearing from shoppers, a Charlotte shopping mall has decided it will have a Christmas tree during the holidays.

The Charlotte Observer reports (https://bit.ly/1MqODKB ) that after hearing feedback from customers, SouthPark Mall announced Saturday it would include a traditional Christmas tree in its holiday display.

Initially, the mall had announced it would replace the tree with a fake glacier. The mall said the giant white mound will feature interactive elements, including a sound and light show every 30 minutes.

Objections to the glacier had popped up shortly after the announcement. The newspaper reported a Change.org petition had been formed to bring back the Christmas tree at SouthPark.
