BERLIN, Pa. (AP) - A conference championship football game in western Pennsylvania was delayed by about an hour after a bus transporting one of the teams caught fire.

About 50 players, coaches and team personnel from Portage Area High School were heading to Berlin Brothersvalley and were just north of Berlin when the fire started just after 5 p.m. Friday.

Athletic director Jeremy Burkett said a tire blew and the driver pulled over, and officials saw flames and evacuated the bus. He told The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat that the flames got bigger and “the next thing you know, we had a full fire on the bus.”

No injuries were reported. In the WestPAC championship game that started an hour later than scheduled, undefeated Berlin Brothersvalley successfully defended its WestPAC championship with a 51-6 victory.
