THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - An 18-year-old will serve six months in the Lafourche Parish jail for his role as a driver in a 2014 crash that killed a Thibodaux High School student.

Christopher Cortez, of Kraemer, pleaded guilty to drag racing in the Aug. 20, 2014, crash that killed 16-year-old Adrian Ledet. The crash happened near Thibodaux.

The Houma Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1MD1XY7 ) that Cortez will also be placed on five years of supervised probation and must pay a $2,000 fine, plus court costs.
