STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - One person is dead after a three-car crash on Highway 82 in Oktibbeha County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol officials tell WCBI-TV (https://bit.ly/1Pj99zh ) it happened about 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Authorities say a westbound 2007 GMC Yukon rear-ended a log truck. The Yukon ran off the road into the median, striking the cable barrier. The log truck rolled over, and a 2002 Ford Mustang hit the truck.

Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to remove the victims from the Yukon. The driver, 46-year-old John D. Gentry, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three children, ages 6, 9, and 11, sustained injuries ranging from serious to critical.

The truck driver, 59-year-old Eddie Wooten of Starkville, had minor injuries. His passenger and the driver of the Mustang were not hurt.
