AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Authorities in Central Texas are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman whose bodies were found in a ditch.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the bodies of a man and a woman were found Sunday in southeastern Austin across the street from a supermarket on Farm Road 812, just east of U.S. 183. People walking to a nearby flea market noticed the bodies and called authorities.

Authorities say the pair may have been walking when they were struck by a vehicle that knocked them into the ditch. Authorities say the vehicle left the scene and they are investigating the crash as possible hit-and run.

The identities of the victims have not been released. Authorities were unable to say how long the bodies had been in the ditch.
