DENVER (AP) - A Commerce City police officer has been wounded in a shooting during a traffic stop.

Police say the shooting in the north Denver suburb occurred about 7:10 a.m. Sunday.

Commander Dennis Moon says the officer’s vest stopped the bullet and he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the officer has not been released.

Police are searching for a late-90s maroon Nissan Pathfinder and a man in his late 40s, or early 50s, with brown hair. He is thin and was wearing glasses and a black and white scarf around his neck.
