COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A Columbia police officer is dead after her patrol car collided with a second law officer’s vehicle.

Multiple media organizations reported that Officer Stacy Case died as a result of injuries she suffered in a crash late Saturday with a University of South Carolina Law Enforcement vehicle. Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said Sunday that Case served with integrity, compassion, courage and a commitment to service.

The university says the campus officer was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Case joined the police department in 2011 after five years in the Army that included experience with the military police.

The state highway patrol is investigating the crash.
