NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 98-year-old driver who ran a red light and hit a deputy’s cruiser has died.

Pasco Sheriff’s officials say William Vatalaro Sr. ran the light shortly after midnight Sunday and hit the officer’s patrol car. The deputy and a 19-year-old police explorer were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Vatalaro was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.
