ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an elementary school instructional aide was arrested on campus in northern Alabama.

Local news media report that 64-year-old Carol Fay Hardy has been charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Hardy was arrested Friday at Blue Springs Elementary School in Athens.

Limestone County Schools Superintendent Tom Sisk says Hardy’s behavior was disruptive, made threats and unable to find her car. Sisk says Hardy has been placed on administrative leave.

Sisk says no students were in danger of involved in any way.

Sisk says the process of how to proceed will begin Monday when human resources and operations and executive director Tommy Hunter returns.

Deputy Paul Cain says Hardy is being held at the Limestone County Jail on a $1,000 bond. It’s not clear whether Hardy has an attorney.
