FULTON, Miss. (AP) - The former director and administrative assistant of the Itawamba County Development Council face embezzlement charges.

Harvey Clements and his wife, Sandy Clements, are accused of stealing more than $25,000 from the economic development group. The indictment doesn’t provide further details.

The Clementses were arraigned in Itawamba County Circuit Court last Thursday. Each was released on a $10,000 bond.

Harvey Clements served as interim executive director after the exit of former director Greg Deakle from July 2014 through December. Sandy Clements had been employed at the non-profit organization prior to her husband’s hiring and remained administrative assistant during the months he served.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1PjaEgM ) the couple are due to appear in court to enter a plea in January.
