EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - The roller derby teammates of a 27-year-old woman killed by an allegedly drunk driver are planning to raise money to help the woman’s children.

Steven L. Willis of Maryville pleaded not guilty Friday to aggravated DUI in an Oct. 23 crash that killed Samantha Miller as she waited with her three children along Interstate 55 after their car broke down.

The 38-year-old Willis was released after posting a bond on $200,000 bail.

Miller was a member of the Confluence Crush roller derby team. Some of her teammates attended Friday’s hearing.

Teammate Nikki Johnson tells The (Alton) Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1Pv1goK) the team plans to retire Miller’s number to honor her. They also want to raise money for her children, who survived who survived the crash. They are ages 3, 6 and 8.
