DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Organizers say the National Peanut Festival fairgrounds have been closed because of expected rain in Alabama.

The festival said in a statement that the fairgrounds of the 71st annual festival will be closed Sunday. The festival plans to open Monday for all scheduled events if the weather permits.

The festival runs through Nov. 15, honoring peanut growers and to celebrate the harvest season.

Hundreds of vendors have setup for the festival.
