FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona Snowbowl workers are packing two feet of snow from a recent storm ahead of a projected Nov. 20 season opener.

A resort official said the slopes will be open to skiers and snowboarders earlier this year, with forecasters expecting a strong El Nino winter to bring above-average precipitation in parts of the Southwest.

Construction is set to finish in December on the Humphrey’s Peak Lift, the resort’s first new chairlift in 30 years. The lift is Snowbowl’s first to seat four people at a time.

The lift was added in a $2 million renovation project, which also brought crews five new snow-making fans intended to increase production.
