DETROIT (AP) - Wayne County is seeking to fill nearly 200 jail officer positions and has scheduled a special testing session for U.S. military veterans.

A pre-hire physical abilities test will be given Saturday at the Michigan Light Guard Armory in Detroit. The $50 testing fee has been waived.

The requirements include carrying a 40-pound weight 100 feet and dragging a 165-pound human form 45 feet.

Written tests and job applications will be offered that day to veterans who pass the physical test.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Salaries for new hires start at $28,284. Health care and other benefits also are offered.
