FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say thieves broke into a remote Florence-area fire station and stole about $1,200 in equipment.

The Eugene Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/CGhkki) Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue says items stolen included two generators, two handheld radios, a heat detector, a chainsaw and a computer.

The items are insured. But until they’re replaced, the thefts may affect the ability of volunteer firefighters to respond to calls from the station.

Authorities believe more than one person was likely involved in the theft because it takes a minimum of two people to carry the large 6,500-watt generator, the station’s backup power source.
