GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a body found in Georgetown County woods has been identified as a man missing for nearly a month, and one person has been charged in his death.

Deputy Coroner Chase Ridgeway tells local media outlets that the man found Wednesday in a wooded area has been identified as 25-year-old Alphonso Alston III.

Alston had been reported missing by his family on Oct. 12 after a fight with another man, 30-year-old Herbert Antonio Deas. Sheriff’s deputies say Deas was charged with murder Friday and is jailed awaiting a bond hearing.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
