GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fatal fire that happened at a Goose Creek home.

Multiple news outlets report the fire occurred Sunday morning. Fire officials say rescue crews were called to the home around 10:30 a.m.

Authorities say 63-year-old Betty Brandhorst was found near the back door of her home. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury says her death was ruled accidental and says she died of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Goose Creek Fire Department and the State Law Enforcement Division.
