LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - A brawl erupted at the trial of a man accused in the stabbing death of his wife after a spectator attacked the defendant.

The man jumped over a wooden railing at the Lancaster County Courthouse on Monday morning and began throwing punches at 29-year-old Carrington Joseph, who is charged in the May 2014 death of 27-year-old Melissa Joseph.

After the man and the defendant traded punches, the spectator was shot with a stun gun. The judge cleared the courtroom and declared a recess until mid-afternoon.

Earlier, the victim’s sister testified that Carrington Joseph threatened her with a knife before stabbing his wife in the neck.

Melissa Joseph was killed weeks after appearing on a syndicated TV talk show to determine whether the defendant had fathered her twins.
