OWOSSO, Mich. (AP) - A theater in central Michigan is celebrating its new marquee as part of the final phase of restoration after a devastating fire in 2007.

An official relighting event was held Friday night at the Lebowsky Center in Owosso to bring to life 900 yellow bulbs framing the marquee that dates back to the 1940s. The Argus-Press (https://bit.ly/1RF8mpZ ) reports that the event marked the end of a community effort in which more than $5 million was raised to rebuild the theater.

The marquee project cost $120,000, with each bulb purchased at $10 apiece, and was covered by grants and donations.

The money went toward refurbishing, modernizing and reinforcing the marquee with improved drainage, a new electrical system and an LED display.
