DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Officials are moving ahead with a proposed $101 million convention hotel planned for downtown Des Moines.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1L7hbnd ) the nonprofit Iowa Events Center Hotel Corp. board, established by Polk County and the city, approved six agreements that outline the hotel’s appearance and financing.

The Des Moines City Council was scheduled to vote Monday night on a development agreement between the hotel board and Polk County. The county board is set to vote Tuesday.

Plans calls for the 330-room hotel, built on the southwest side of the Iowa Events Center, to open by December 2017.

Demolition of a building at the site is expected to begin in early December.
