GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Former North Dakota Gov. Ed Schafer and University of North Dakota Provost Thomas Dilorenzo are the two finalists for interim president of the university.

KFGO-AM reports that the two names were recommended by Chancellor Mark Haggerot as finalists to serve in the role for President Robert Kelley, who is retiring in January after leading the Grand Forks school for nearly seven years.

Schafer says if offered the job, he’d take it. Schafer served two terms as governor and was U.S. Secretary of Agriculture from 2008-2009.
