THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Sales tax collections continued to drop for many Lafourche government agencies in October.

The Daily Comet reports (https://bit.ly/1lfjS14) the parish school board, which collects and distributes local sales tax money, compiled a new report, which includes sales tax totals collected through September and distributed to agencies in October.

Agencies in south Lafourche continued to see drops in sales tax collections, with Road Sales Tax District 2 and the Town of Golden Meadow experiencing a 12 percent and 14 percent drop, respectively, from October 2014 to October 2015.

The South Lafourche Levee District saw an almost 20 percent drop during the same time period.

Some agencies in the central and northern part of the parish saw a slight increase over last year after a few months of declining.
