SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - A man is being charged with drunken driving in the crash that killed an on-duty San Bernardino police officer.

The San Bernardino Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1MGrQX0 ) that 27-year-old Archie Green III, of Fontana, will appear in court Monday. He is being charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection to the Thursday crash.

Police say Officer Bryce Hanes was struck by a Dodge Charger after leaving the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. The Charger ran a red light and crashed into the passenger side of the patrol car, which spun out of control and hit a traffic signal.

The 12-year veteran of the police department was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Green was treated for minor injuries and arrested.
