VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (AP) - A Los Angeles man has pleaded not guilty to fatally shooting his estranged wife’s boyfriend in a home on Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1HpEvkU ) 50-year-old Deon Ewers entered the plea Sunday morning on a second-degree murder charge. He was ordered held without bail.

Ewers was arrested Saturday. Court documents indicate Ewers forced his way into the Valley Stream home of his estranged wife on Friday and shot and killed 34-year-old Majid Morris.

Police say the woman and the 14-year-old son she had with Ewers were home at the time of the shooting but weren’t injured.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
