MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - Students at three Missoula schools were being kept inside the buildings while police searched for an armed burglary suspect.

Missoula County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Brenda Bassett says a man called 911 shortly after noon Monday to report he came home to find another man in his house. He said the man had a gun and a hand-held radio and identified himself as a law enforcement officer.

Bassett says the intruder pointed the gun at the resident before leaving.

The intruder is described as Caucasian, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, in his 30s or 40s. He was wearing a green sweatshirt, blue jeans and a blue baseball cap.

The school district locked the outside doors to Big Sky High School, C.S. Porter Middle School and Hawthorne Elementary during the search.
