NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a pedestrian was killed and two other people, including a young child, were injured when a car jumped a curb and flipped over onto a sidewalk in Brooklyn.

It happened on Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Park South just before 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the black Nissan Sentra plowed into a tree and hit a bus stop before striking a 50-year-old man who was walking on the sidewalk. The pedestrian’s identity has not yet been released.

Police say the 58-year-old driver of the vehicle and a 3-year-old passenger were hospitalized in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

It wasn’t clear what caused the accident.
