PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Health officials say at least 75 students and up to nine teachers at a Klamath Falls elementary school have been sickened with a contagious stomach illness.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/X9zfm3 ) Klamath County health officials are still investigating but they suspect norovirus was responsible for the illness that has caused nausea, fever and chills.

They remind the school community and everyone else that the best way to avoid infection is to frequently wash your hands, especially after toilet visits, changing diapers and before eating or preparing food.

The school was closed for two days to disinfect surfaces, and a school carnival was canceled
