BOSTON (AP) - Authorities say a driver dragged two police officers with his car during a traffic stop in Boston.

Prosecutors say police spotted 45-year-old Bryant Gilbert speeding and weaving through traffic and pulled him over in the Mattapan neighborhood at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say when the officers reached into the vehicle to turn it off, Gilbert stepped on the gas and dragged them about 100 yards before crashing into another vehicle.

Police say Gilbert tried to run away but was caught.

He pleaded not guilty to assault and battery, drug and other charges and was held on $50,000 bail.

His lawyer says there are “two sides” to the story.

The officers were treated and released from the hospital.
